Fueling the Femme Economy.

We put women + non-binary owned businesses front and center - with IRL events, real community, and RFRL, the app that turns your group chat recs into revenue.

About What She Said

Our Story

The brand was built on the belief that SMB women + non-binary owned businesses are the wheels on the economy and deserve a safe space to be seen, feel heard and make more green.

After years of building communities for women and non-binary people through What She Said, co-founders Bryn Carter and Emily Salberg noticed the same thing happening over and over again:

Someone would ask for a recommendation and hundreds of thoughtful responses would pour in.

The referrals were always there. The problem was that they disappeared as quickly as they appeared.

At the same time, women and non-binary business owners were working harder than ever to get discovered in a digital world dominated by algorithms, ads, and anonymous reviews.

A trusted referral platform where people can discover businesses through real recommendations, save their favorites, create curated lists, and help great businesses get discovered through the power of word-of-mouth

Why We Started What She Said

So we built an app to showcase them front and center -
and we call her, RFRL.

So we built an app to showcase them front and center - and we call her, RFRL.

Because every referral is an opportunity and where we spend our money shapes the communities we live in.

Meet the Founders

What started as professional crushes from afar quickly turned into two passion forward founders coming together to build What She Said, a brand whose main focus was to build a community of women business owners and consumers who were ready to fuel the Femme Economy.

Whether is it our IRL events, amazing merch, *podcast loading*, our app, our partnerships with other incredible groups and brands one thing is forever clear -
